Red half calf binding and marbled paper lettered in gilt to spine, raised bands to spine with gilt decoration, marbled endpapers, marbled edges. Black and white pictorial in-text illustrations. Ownership inscription to endpaper otherwise internally clean, minor toning to top edge of textblock, some marking and scratching to boards, slight wear to head of spine. Very good. This is a children's book of some of Shakespeare's well known plays; Charles wrote the tragedies, whereas Mary wrote the comedies. The book has been republished frequently, and it wasn't until the seventh edition in 1838 that Mary's name featured on the title page.
