With presentation note to flyleaf; "For Mrs Holmes- | these songs | and poems - | Sincerely, | Langston Hughes | Feb. 5, | 1932." A used copy with faded covers, jacket rather chipped and worn, with some neatly repaired splits to folds. Hughes was a pioneer of the literary art form called jazz poetry and is best known as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance [or 'New Negro Movement' as it was known at the time] in New York City.
