Item #50742 Realistic Pictures. Andrew HOLMES, born 1947.

Realistic Pictures.

London: The Gallery at John Jones Frames, 1991. [Modernism] FIRST (and only) EDITION. Portfolio (12 x 12 inches) of 10 photographs together with two printed text sheets, housed in original polythene sleeve with text printed in white. Fine throughout, with minor handling to bag. A scarce automotive/industrial/architectural item; only one copy found on OCLC, located at the National Art Library at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Published to coincide with the gallery exhibition November-December 1991. Andrew Holmes is Britain's best-known super-realist painter and graphic designer. He is also an architect and one of the original Richard Rogers four-person practice, a long time unit master at the Architectural Association and latterly at the University of Westminster. Encompassing drawing, printmaking, photography, film and design, his work explores the apparently anonymous mobile infrastructure of cities, particularly the American metropolis. The present item is the catalogue for an installation in Bedford Square in June 1988. It originally accompanied the Big Pic Box, which included eighteen colour plates, complete copies of which are currently valued around £800 [AA Bookshop, 2018]. Item #50742
