Smith and Son bindery in green cloth, titled in gilt to the spine. Some spotting and toning to page edges, cloth a little rubbed and darkened to extremities. Very good. The author's third book, being one of the four classic pre-war thrillers which established his reputation as a spy writer; Ambler is described by Gilbert as the pioneer of the sophisticated espionage novel and the inventor of the modern political thriller.
