The Mint, by 352087 A/c Ross A Day-book of the R.A.F.Depot between August and December 1922 with later notes.

London, Jonathan Cape. 1955. FIRST EDITION, LIMITED ISSUE. Publisher's blue morocco-backed buckram boards. One of 2000 copies numbered in ink. Printed on fine laid paper with marbled endpapers, deckle edges, top edge gilt. Clean within but for spotting to first and final leaves, cloth marked at fore-edge. A very good copy in original printed card slip-case (rubbed and soiled). Lawrence's 'The Mint' is a memoir of his experiences as an enlisted man in the Royal Air Force; working from a notebook he kept while enlisted, Lawrence wrote of the daily lives of fellow servicemen and about his feelings towards the RAF. The book, with its sparse and sharp prose, is stylistically very different from 'Seven Pillars of Wisdom', and was published posthumously, edited by his brother Prof. A.W. Lawrence. Item #48155
