Item #47759 Mysterious Air Ace. Gilderoy DAVISON.

Mysterious Air Ace.

London: Herbert Jenkins, 1941. FIRST EDITION, PRE-PUBLICATION REVIEW COPY. Octavo, pp.256. Publisher's orange cloth with titles in black to spine and upper board, in pictorial dust-jacket. With an 'advance review copy' slip pasted to the centre of the front panel. Endpapers tones, spotting to edges, slight lean to the textblock, cloth shows very well with just some pushing to the end caps and slight bumping to the spine. Dust-jacket is generally bright, slightly faded to spine, Some loss to the corners and to the top and bottom of spine, some creasing. A very good copy of a very scarce title, especially in it's dust-jacket. "Wounded over Kiel, Robin Lampeter, V.C., is discharged from the R.A.F. Still spoiling for a fight, he is given a chance in the Secret Service. Enlisting the aid of four kindred spirits, he crosses the Channel, successfully evades the vigilant Nazis, and penetrates deep into enemy territory. Countering treachery with resource and brutality with courage, the free loyal Frenchmen from the terrors of the concentration camp, perform valiant acts of knight-errantry, and with consummate audacity beard the Nazi oppressors in their own terrain."
