London: Hamish Hamilton, 1968. FIRST UK EDITION. Crown Octavo, pp.216. In publisher's blue cloth with red titles to spine. With original pictorial dust jacket. Blue ink stamps of the Athole Palace Hotel (near Pitlochry in Perthshire) to front free end-paper. Slight reading lean; occasional creases from turned over page corners. Light chipping, marking and some closed tears to jacket edges. Damp marking along top edge of the jacket, some old tape reinforcement along the back of the rear panel. Good overall. Begining with 'Cop Hater' (1956), Hunter wrote the 87th Precinct series over the 50's, 60's and 70's under his crime genre pseudonym, Ed McBain. Set in a fictional version of New York City, he later wrote the screenplay for the 1972 film 'Fuzz', staring Burt Reynolds. Item #47361
