The Importance of Being Earnest. Oscar WILDE, 1854 - 1900.

The Importance of Being Earnest.

London: Samuel French Ltd, 26 Southampton St., n.d. [c.1900]. French's Acting Edition, 'The Dramatic Works of Oscar Wilde' No.1. pp.52. Publisher's decorative pale green paper covers printed in black with 'Gothic' title in two lines (some show the title over three lines, priority unknown). Original price 1d,.6s. Some trivial handling, chip to lower quarter of spine; near fine. An uncommon printing, not quite conforming to Mason's version; the preliminary leaves and adverts were never included here (ie the eralier text) yet the revised (later) address appears on the imprint. In addition, the binding is the earlier wired (not sewn) construction. A bibliographical complexity, but at least it's in nice shape. Item #46466

Mason 384.
