London: Printed for H.D. Symonds, 1806. EARLY SATIRIST AND CARICATURIST. SCARCE. Octavo, pp.203; 33. Internally remarkably clean considering age, with more significant browning at endpapers, all edges speckled with blue. Illustrated throughout by talented 18th century caricaturist 'Tim Bobbin' (real name John Collier). Recently respined to style in brown calf, with red morocco label, as new. Original mottled calf boards show general rubbing, with leather worn through to board in places. All corners bumped, edgeworn, binding holds firm. An exceptionally clean copy with expected wear to boards. Collier had nine children, and began writing and illustrating on a purely economic basis. He would travel to local pubs and sell his works, as well as produce portraits of the locals - charging on the basis of heads drawn per picture. Item #45849
