Pictorial dust-jacket showing Everest and orange titles to upper, orange spine, and photograph of Tenzing at the summit of Everest to lower cover, unclipped. Signed by Tenzing to the title page, internally clean with some spotting to front edge of textblock which does not penetrate. Dust-wrapper shows well, with little in the way of rubbing; jacket spine sunned, additional minor sunning to lower. The autobiography of one of mountaineering's greatest heroes, who worked his way up "from a mountain coolie, a bearer of loads, to a wearer of coats with rows of medals who is carried about in planes and worries about income tax" (Tiger of the Snows). Along with Edmund Hillary, he was the first person to reach the summit of Everest, in 1953. This autobiography records the trajectory of his life after his famous ascent. Item #45754
