A very good copy. With an important presentation note to the title-page; Roy Baker / from Eric Ambler / 16 August 46. The recipient is Roy [Ward] Baker, the cult film and TV director [Quatermass, The Avengers, The Saint etc]. The present copy was inscribed during production of the film 'The October Man', being written by Ambler and directed by Baker. An important writer of thrillers, Ambler is a Haycraft-Queen listed novelist and one of a select few writers who have won a CWA award on three seperate occasions. Ian Fleming later acknowledged Ambler's work as a influential factor in the development of Commander James Bond. Item #44658
