Bound in contemporary brown calf, with gilt ruling and blind tooling to boards, rebacked to style, with original black labels, raised bands and gilt decoration; all edges marbled, original grey endpapers with bookplate. Bindings show well, boards show some rubbing, with occasional scuffs, marks and chips, and some bumping to corners. Internally clean, with spotting at prelims and end matter, and localised to tissue guards and leaves surrounding plates. The collected plays of the greatest writer in the English language, with comprehensive notes, and the life written by Dr Johnson.
