With twenty-four plates (one folding and three being hand-coloured) and two folding charts. Original marbled calf, neatly rapired to joints, later title label to style, all edges tinted yellow. Some light, occasional marking, edges a little stained, watermark to lower corner of first four leaves. A very good copy. Includes biographical notes on Henry Bolingbroke, Queen Elizabeth, Thomas Hobbes, Sir Walter Raleigh, Thomas Gainsborough and Cardinal Wolsey, plus a lengthy account and portrait of the alchemist and occult philosopher Dr John Dee.
