New York: Doubleday, Doran and Company. 1931. SIGNED FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 316. Publisher's yellow cloth with black titles and decoration to front and spine, fore edge untrimmed, black endpapers. In suitably sinister pictorial dustjacket designed by George Annand. With inscription by Sax Rohmer to the half title page. Slight lean to the textblock, half title page and rear flyleaf just starting, some dustiness to top edge. Some slight nicking to tail cap and bumping to both the head and tail caps, rubbing to the board edges and to the spine. Some marking to all faces of the boards. Quite heavy spotting to the rear of the dustwrapper, with some marking to the lighter portions, still shows brightly. The dustwrapper has been strengthened at most corners with tape, closing up two inch and a half closed tears to the bottom of the spine and to the rear face. Some areas of loss to all the corners and some creasing. Overall a very good copy. Item #44127
