Item #43642 The Special Kinesiology Of Educational Gymnastics. Nils POSSE.

The Special Kinesiology Of Educational Gymnastics.

London: Arthur F. Bird, 1914. Large Octavo. Bound in publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to front board and spine. Illustrated with photographic portrait frontispiece, and 267 diagrams. Summary sheet in pocket at rear. Binding is a little rubbed to joints and corners, bumped at spine ends. Internally clean and free from spotting. Some pencil annotations in a later hand, evidently putting together a programme of exercises based on Posse's work. Posse's life work was creating a handbook of gymnastic exercises that could be used to improve physical and mental well-being, especially that of children. The book is dedicated to the pupils of his gymnasium, in which he explains that gymnastics represent a 'liberal art', a 'cosmopolitan science', and a 'universal truth'. Fully illustrated with diagrams explaining the postures and movements. Truly a fine piece of physical fitness and sporting history. Item #43642
