Prize binding for Harrow School of dark brown diced calf, gilt arrow motif taken from the Harrow school crest adorning the corners of the front and rear boards, and three panels on the spine. Direct lettering to spine with extra gilt decoration, two-line gilt border framing the front and rear boards, gilt detailing to board edges, blind tooling to leather turn-in, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers. School prize bookplate. Several small illustrations including a depiction of a 'working model of a Locomotive Engine, 1784' and portrait of James Watt with tissue guard, three facsimile woodcuts. Very minor handling wear, back board sunned, sewn-in ribbon bookmark has left a mark on pages 312-313 after many years. A very good, attractive copy. Item #43557
