"A book worth reading is worth buying."
— John Ruskin

Paris: Hachette. 1888. [Theatrical props, devices and mechanics] Third edition. Octavo. Bound in contemporary half brown morocco gilt over marbled boards. Titled and decorated in gilt to spine, gilt rules to boards. Illustrated with 60 wood engravings of theatrical machinery. Marbled endpapers. Slight scuffing and rubbing to extremities, some shelfwear. Pencil ownership to front flyleaf. Internally clean. Very good. Absolutely fascinating, if you happen to like engravings of backstage trapdoor setups and the inner workings of mechanical set effects. Who doesn't? Seriously, anyone who doesn't needs to take a long hard look at their interests. An absolutely fantastic little book. Item #43428
