With Edmonds and Remnants, London binder's ticket at rear. Binding is somewhat rubbed, frayed at spine ends, corners bumped, joints starting. Internally clean and free from spotting. Very good. A biography of the inventor of the steam engine by the famous, or perhaps infamous, Victorian author of "Self-Help". This was the first biography in what would become a series on the lives of great men of industry and business, which led George Bernard Shaw to describe Smiles as a "modern Plutarch" Item #43344
