London: J. Cunningham, 1839. Octavo, pp.86. Extracted from The Novel Newspaper, no covers, with paper spine. Slight spotting to initial pages, otherwise clean. An excellent piece of Gothic fiction in which, as one contemporary reviewer put it, "The character of Ormond will appear to many a wicked, contradictory, unintelligible being, a creature of improbable and horrid fancy; but yet by a sober judgement it will be regarded as a character highly probable, and well worthy of study for avoidance rather than for imitation." The first edition was published in 1811, and this copy is extracted from The Novel Newspaper in 1839. Item #43026
