London: Frederick Warne and Co., 1908. First Edition. Quarto. Illustrated grey paper boards, with beveled edges, and cream cloth spine. A lavishly illustrated alphabet book, it includes twenty four plates, as XYZ are represented by a single plate. Edges of boards are rubbed, worn at corners, with some fading, and spine is tanned with a mark near top of spine indicating a former label, with a scratch to front board. Some repair to crack in front hinge, gauze showing slightly, some tanning to flyleaves. The plates are all clean and bright, some creasing to top right corners and minor nicks and tears to edges, infrequent minor smudges to margins. One of Edmund Dulac's most enchanting works, this alphabet book includes twenty humorous limericks by Dulac, which are illustrated by the plates. Item #42904
