With the bookplate of Adrian Homer Goldstone to the front pastedownGoldstone was a noted book connoisseur and bibliographer responsible for sterling research on both Steinbeck and the legendary Arthur Machen.. Headon Hill was the pseudonym of crime writer Francis Edward Grainger, 1857-1927, who specialised in Scotland Yard police procedurals.
