Geyserland. Empiricisms In Social Reform. Being Data and Observations Recorded by the Late Mark Stubble, M.D., Ph.D.

Washington, DC: printed for R. Hatfield, 1908. [Science Fiction] FIRST EDITION, first impression. Octavo (21 x 14cm), pp.451 [1]. Publisher's cream cloth with titles in gilt and decoration in green to spine and upper. Top edge gilt. Lacks front free endpaper. Edges toned, with a little spotting to frontispiece and facing leaves. One small nick to the cloth along bottom edge of front board, and a little general wear, otherwise a nice clean copy. Very good. Postulating the existence of lost human forebears deep in the arctic, a lost continent (The "Geyserland" of the title), the sanctity of human life (a novel idea we seem to have dismissed as outmoded), the relationship of various political and social organisations to Christianity, and a whole load of other half-mad, half-baked, half really, really clever stuff, some of which would probably be really useful to take note of in our gradual decline towards Medievalism.
