Publisher's green leather-grained half cloth with gilt titles to spine and Papier Tourniquet over boards. Grey patterned endpapers. Black ink gift inscription to first blank, dated 1912. Damp mark to lower edge of text block. Gilt dulled, with moderate rubbing to boards, and some fraying to head and tail of spine. Better than the usual pirate editions, on good paper. Very good. A Study In Scarlet (1887) was the first Sherlock Holmes novel, featuring the debut case for the great amateur detective Sherlock Holmes and his new-found colleague, the narrator Dr. John Watson.
