Fine contemporary tree calf by BICKERS & SON of London for Sherborne School, with raised bands, gilt titles to contrasting green and maroon labels, and further gilt decoration to spine. Gilt school medal and crest to boards. All edges and endpapers marbled. School prize plate to front pastedown dated 1932. A clean copy with some rubbing and toning to top edge. Distinct tobacco scent. Light wear to binding; corners a little bumped and spine slightly sunned. Near fine. The classic 1843 account of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire in the early sixteenth century, this edition being first-published in 1886. Item #57317
