Top edge gilt; cracked-earth patterned endpapers. Blue ink ownership to front fly-leaf, dated 1941. Offsetting to endpapers; light occasional spotting throughout. One gathering a little loose near centre of text block. Cloth rubbed to spine and board edges; lower joint just starting. Very good. Yellow fog is swirling through the streets of London and Sherlock Holmes himself is sitting in a cocaine-induced haze until the arrival of a distressed and beautiful young lady forces the great detective into action.
