New York, NY: The Federal Book Company, no date [circa 1904]. [Sherlock Holmes] PIRATE EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.3-176. Publisher's grey cloth with gilt titles to spine, and green and blue decoration to spine and upper. Title page removed; first leaf of text present but loose. Black ink ownerships to front pastedown. Hinges split; guttering barely holding. Extremely heavily browned and brittle throughout, with heavy chipping and losses to preliminary margins. Quite heavy wear to cloth, with rubbing and loss to head and tail of spine, and bumped corners. Poor, but surely rare thus. Yellow fog is swirling through the streets of London and Sherlock Holmes himself is sitting in a cocaine-induced haze until the arrival of a distressed and beautiful young lady forces the great detective into action.
