With a black and white half-tone frontispiece. Publisher's red cloth with black and white titles and decoration to spine and upper. With the colour-illustrated dust-jacket, priced at 2/6. Bookplate of Curtiss Taylor to front pastedown. Jacket sunned to spine with rubbing to edges, and a few chips and closed tears. Near fine. A consortium of Hudson Bay Company traders set up camp at a remote location in northern Canada, hoping to observe an eclipse and establish a new trading post. All this is forgotten when an earthquake cuts them off from the mainland and pushes them out into the ocean towards Alaska on an iceburg. First published in 1873 and translated into English the same year. Item #57142
