Publisher's grey cloth with white titles to upper, and white device to lower. Purple endpapers. Associated contemporary newspaper clippings loose at rear. Bookplate detailing provenance to front pastedown, being from the library of Joseph Francis Fletcher, Jr. (1934-1984), Professor of Chinese and Inner Asian History at Harvard. Slightly cocked, with some minor repairs to guttering. Light rubbing to cloth, with sunning to board margins and some flaking to white titles and decoration. Very good. A rare English-language edition of this book by the celebrated Japanese photographer, showing the people, costumes, and culture of Manchuria, occupied by Japan between 1931 and 1945. Item #57115
