Publisher's red cloth titled in gilt, with the pictorial dust-jacket. A fine reissue/reprint of the book first published in 1959, jacket states second impression; this edition with a cover illustration showing Ringo Starr and Peter Sellars, stars of the 1969 Black Comedy film adaptation produced by the prominent Beatles associate Denis O Dell. Price-clipped, a little splashed to fore-edge, minor wear to jacket; near fine. Boldly signed to flyleaf in blue ink. The Magic Christian is a 1959 comic novel by satirist Terry Southern. The 1969 film was relocated from New York to swinging London and featured Beatle Ringo Starr and comic Peter Sellers, together with Raquel Welch, Richard Attenborough and Christopher Lee, and a host of British humorists such as John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Graham Stark, Hattie Jacques, Clive Dunn, Spike Milligan and John Le Mesurier. Ringo's fellow Beatle Paul McCartney contributed the song 'Come and Get It', which was performed by Apple Records artist Badfinger. This copy was signed circa 1970s for a New York writer and photographer, with an accompanying note of provenance. Item #55459
