London: Collins, 1929. [Detective fiction] FIRST EDITION. Octavo (19 x 13cm), pp.252; , advertisements. Publisher's black cloth with titles in red to spine and upper, ruled in red. Much less spotting than usually encountered, minor wear to spine ends, joints a little rubbed. An attractive copy of an early Christie title. Christie's tenth crime book and her second original collection of stories which includes an appearance by Christie's husband and wife team of Tommy and Tuppence Beresford. It is a rather enjoyable work for connoisseurs of the genre, as Christie writes each story in the style of another detective, including Sherlock Holmes, Father Brown, her own Hercule Poirot, and Dr Thorndyke, amongst others.
